Privacy protection
Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information BizzNoir collects, why we use it, who it may be shared with and what rights you have.
Who is responsible for your information?
BizzNoir operates the BizzNoir directory and is responsible for the personal information it holds. The officer identified at the end of this policy oversees our privacy practices.
This policy applies to the BizzNoir website, accounts, business listings, reviews, contact forms, invitations and BizzNoir Assistant.
Information we collect
We collect information directly from you when you create an account, submit or edit a listing, post a review, use the assistant or contact us. Certain technical data is collected automatically to secure the service.
Why we use this information
- Create, confirm and protect your account.
- Receive, verify, translate, moderate, publish and update business listings.
- Receive and moderate reviews, prevent duplicate reviews and handle reports.
- Answer messages, send security codes and communicate administrative decisions.
- Operate search and BizzNoir Assistant.
- Detect fraud, malicious files, unsafe links and misuse of the service.
- Send news or announcements only if you chose to receive them.
- Meet legal obligations and protect the rights of BizzNoir and its users.
We request clear consent when required. Consent to announcements is optional and may be withdrawn in your account or through the unsubscribe link. Withdrawal is not retroactive, and certain data needed for the account or required by law may have to be retained.
Providers, automated tools and transfers
BizzNoir does not sell or rent your personal information. We may, however, disclose strictly necessary information to providers that help us operate and protect the service.
WHC and hosting-related technical services store files, the database and backups.
The configured SMTP provider transmits codes, confirmations, decisions and requested communications.
When the assistant is enabled, your question and limited directory context may be sent to Google to generate a response. Do not provide confidential information.
Public business-description text may be sent to DeepL to produce its French or English version.
When these tools are configured, web addresses, file fingerprints or technical elements may be checked by Google Web Risk or VirusTotal.
Some providers may process data outside Québec or Canada. Before such a transfer, BizzNoir considers the nature of the information, its purpose, safeguards and the applicable legal framework. Providers are limited to the tasks assigned to them.
Cookies, retention and security
Cookies and sessions
The site uses essential cookies to maintain your session, protect forms, remember language and secure authentication. BizzNoir does not enable advertising cookies by default. Your browser can block cookies, but certain account features may then stop working.
Retention period
We retain information for as long as needed for the purposes described, account operation, abuse prevention and legal obligations. A confirmed deletion request hides the account and its listings for a 30-day recovery period before scheduled deletion. Residual copies may temporarily remain in secured backups, and certain logs or records may be retained when required by law or justified by an incident or dispute.
Security measures
BizzNoir uses measures such as HTTPS, password hashing, access controls, anti-CSRF tokens, rate limits, file validation, security logging and human moderation. No system, however, can guarantee absolute security.
Your rights and choices
Subject to legal exceptions, you may request access to personal information BizzNoir holds about you, correction, withdrawal of consent, cessation of dissemination or deletion where applicable. You may also change certain information and preferences directly in “My account.”
To protect your account, we may request reasonable proof of identity before processing a request. We will respond within legally required time limits and explain any applicable refusal.
Minors
BizzNoir is not designed to knowingly collect information from children. A person who lacks the required legal capacity must use the service with the authorization and supervision of a parent or guardian.
Privacy incident
If an incident poses a risk of serious harm, BizzNoir will take reasonable steps to limit the risk and promptly notify affected individuals and the Commission d’accès à l’information when required by law.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when practices, features or legal requirements change. The update date will appear at the top of the page. A more prominent notice will be given when a significant change warrants it.
